Judge My Computer Build

Here is a computer I put together that I am planning to use for world of warcraft ( the only game I really play), Photoshop, and other photo things I have.

I already have the hard drive and the CD drive, so I dont need to worry about those. My budget isn't large, but I would like to get "okay" parts that will work for the next 2 years at least.

Any suggestions or comments will help.

the only bad thing is the ram. you can get 2x2gb 1066mhz for $60, which is what you are gonna spend for 3gb 800mhz.

Everything is wrong with it the CPU is overpriced and almost out dated you can get a top of the line AMD triple core for less. The PSU is crappy and you can get one much better for the price. You can get cheaper and better RAM if you get 4GB of 2x2GB. Also there so no graphics card do you already have on or is this not a gaming computer.

Here is what you should be looking at

If your going to just edit photos and play wow why not go amd(please guys dont flame) U will spend less money on each and go further. And if you dont want to go amd then i would get a different mobo and get one that lets u use faster ram.

AMD +1

But I do recommend you spend extra go for core i5 750 than go for E8400 if you want intel

Other component as Fatback suggested

BTW, where is your video card?? May be $100 for 4850...

You almost got it right the CPU cooler is for Intel you need the one for AMD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...e=Artic_cooler_freezer-_-35-185-125-_-Product same thing but has mounts to the mobo different. The PSU you picked is crappy and I wouldn't trust it with your graphics card so get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171046 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341020&cm_re=OCZ_psu-_-17-341-020-_-Product. Everything thing else looks good. Also you can get a cheaper motherboard one with out Crossfire since you have a Nvidia card. You will not be able to use the crossfire unless you buy two ATI cards. So if you won't you can get this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130233.

Your recommendations made a lot more sense than the ones I picked. Thanks

What if I wanted to use an Intel CPU, what stuff would you recommend for that?

pretty much everything I said but get this CPU and motherboard

CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215&cm_re=i5-_-19-115-215-_-Product

Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128405&cm_re=i5-_-13-128-405-_-Product

You would probably need another PSU to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...189014&cm_re=Xclio_psu-_-17-189-014-_-Product

The CPU cooler I'm not sure on I don't know which CPU cooler work with the P55 motherboards. My guess would be any one that will work with the X58 motherboard but I'm not sure.

I like the Intel set up a little better, even if it is more expensive.

I have a 32" 1080p hdtv, and I wanted to run my comp through it. It has the hook ups, but do you think the Graphics Card would be able to work with that size tv.

Any recommendations on a new nvidia card? something around $100, give or take

I prefer AMD but the Intel setup is better. The 8600GTS will handle the 32inch fine.

A Nvidia card for around $100 is pushing it this is the cheapest newest Nvidia card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127423&cm_re=GTS_250-_-14-127-423-_-Product. Now if you plan on going with the Intel and getting another card for SLI then you are going to need a better PSU like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9005&cm_re=Corsair_psu-_-17-139-005-_-Product.

Honestly I would go with the AMD build and get this graphics card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102850&cm_re=4870-_-14-102-850-_-Product its better then the GTS 250 and not much more plus your already saving money with the AMD so it is going to be cheaper and you could probably get a better PSU so you could do crossfire in the future.

Both builds are going to be good it's up to you.

Can I use my GeForce 8600 with the AMD set up?

Sorry, I know a lot, but I am still very new to this

Yep you sure can but you can't SLI with another 8600 like you can the Intel setup. I wouldn't worry about that because it would be better to get a new card when you get some extra money. A 4870 will easily be more powerful then two 8600GTS.

The reason the RAM cost more is because it is DDR3 you can go with a DDR2 setup. If you do then you will need to pick a new motherboard. You should probably stay with DDR3 as it will give you better performance then DDR2.

For a case look at the Xclio Godspeed it is an excellent case and has terrific cooling for the price.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...4&cm_re=Xclio_godspeed-_-11-103-024-_-Product

Everything looks good your going to have a nice rig. If you ever on planning on upgrading your graphics card then your going to need a new power supply.

I would go with this combo deal http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.254542 that power supply is great quality and will easily power a 4870 or GTX 260 in the future.

+1, best budget case out there, and one of the best budget power supplies imo.

And btw, 1366 coolers do not work for 1156 motherboards, you need a 1156 cpu cooler bracket. Some motherborads have socket 775 heatsink mounting holes however.

Id recommend going Core i5 however, faster clock for clock, overclocks pretty well, and quadcore..
