laptop wont start

hi all,

i have a sony viao laptop the problem is it wont start, it freezes no matter wether it is loading windows (safe mode or normal), the start repair tool it even freezes when i try and load the recovery tool after pressing alt and f10

when i start it up the hard disk light flashes like it should then stops and nothing happens after that,

i have even tried booting from the instal dvd but the same just happenes

How many sticks of RAM are in the laptop?

If more than one, try taking one out at a time and see if it boots...

thanks for the reply, I tried that and it did not work it is still getting to the "starting windows " screen then restarting automatically then going to the start up repair then freezing

Try downloading the hard drive diagnostics disk from your manufacturer (you will need to take the HDD out to get the manufacturer), and running from that disk. It sounds like you have a failing hard drive.

Also, you could try memtest for 3+ hours to be sure your RAM isn't at fault.
