Okay, so looking for a replacement laptop. I thought I had found a t61p on ebay, but it seems I need a 512MB card at least to do what I want. So I am coming here now and asking for help.
What I need:
  • 1080p or 1200p 15" LCD
  • Core 2 Duo @ 2.2 or higher (or the equalivent Core series
  • a GPU that can max out BF2. I know a 7900m GTX can. Needs to be 512MB as the game maxes out at 500MB vRAM usage

okay, I have a budget of 300 or can be 700 if I wait a while. Prefer Lenovo or Dell in the Precision or Latitude line. DX10 card required, and want a Quadro or Firepro line. Smaller the better as the batteries last longer, and the media bay is requested as I like to use a big HDD as a flashkey of sorts for it.

both of those are integrated intel cards. That will not work at all.

maybe I should have clarified, I am looking for a used one. A while back I was looking at new, and it will be 1800+ to do exactly what I want it to, as the M6600 is the only one that did not bottleneck and had a 1080p and quad core.

The x1300 is DX9 and not even top of the line for that run either. http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-X1300.2166.0.html it is actually the lowest of the low in that line. Probably equal to the GMA4500HD from intel.
The problem with the FX 570m (8600m GT) in the one I am looking at is lack of vRAM. I want to play BF2 maxxed on the move, but it needs 500MB of vRAM.

Well thats asking alot for $300. Search ebay and craigslist and good luck!

There is alot of athlon x2 units with dedicated graphics referb on new egg.

like I said, I can go up to 700, but I don't want a new one. I am not paying for something I won't use. Just need a 512MB card with core 2 and a high resolution screen. It should bot be as hard as it is.

the y560 looks tempting, but I think I am just going to take my chances and get a few 9 cells for the M90 and call it a day. None of these options fit just right, and they are going to be below the performance level. :/
