A lot of limitation I've come to find in upgrading my computer is due to the slimline model case. If a case with the correct mounting points could be found that was larger, is there anything preventing me from swapping the motherboard from the slimline to one of my older computer cases? I could move all the components and then I could upgrade the power supply which would enable me to upgrade the graphics card. I didn't want to do this if there is some obvious reason why this wouldn't work.

The CX430 is pretty bad as well. It's actually a mediocre 300W unit, with bad capacitors to boot. Either Corsair or CWT failed hard on that one...not sure who's idea it was to do that.

The Antec Neo ECO line is great, though. Earthwatts or a newer Basiq would also be a good choice, as well as a Seasonic SS or S12II. (be aware, the SS units don't come with a power cable)

I've established the PSU I want is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030
Thanks for the feedback guys.

What makes this video card better? Is it the amount of stream processors and the different memory type? I understand the value of more memory but after that I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to the other specs.

Also for cases, how does CF feel about these two and which would you get? I like the NZXT for style, but the Cooler Master has more reviews. I also like the Power Supply on bottom for NZXT.

The hd5670 is better due to the refined architecture, the use of gddr5, more stream processors and in some ways dx11
Each time a new gen of vid cards is released it always improves on performance, for example the gtx580 is around 20 % faster than the gtx480.
Gddr5 is significantly better the ddr3 memory on the hd4670 and will help increase performance, you are still limited but the 128bit bus width but there will still be a gain in performance.
refined architecture (i think the hd5xxx series is actually new not refined)
means everything is more efficient and that the whole design will be more powerful.
You also gain dx11 support even though you will not really have enough power to use it.

Id say it is worth it since it is almost the same price as the hd4670 after rebate.

And to anyone in the us what is it about this rebate thing, why dont we get it in the uk? or anywhere else?

Rebates are marketing schemes lol I never send them in, and thus they profit from our American laziness. And Americans are usually lazy, no? Thanks for the explanation of how the video cards work. So Stream Processors and Memory type do matter, that's good to know.

Do you have any preferences on the cases friend?

I'm not to up with the case's i'm afraid.

I definatly like the look of the NZXT, looks real nice but i dont know how good the air flow through the case will be.

Well I have a case right now that would work, it's just a matter of disassembling this damn Micro-ATX case that I'm on right now. The MB is the best out of the ones I have obviously and I'm trying to be cheap so I might not get the case at all. We'll see. I like the style too, and I think it would have better airflow since it is bigger with three fans.

The NZXT is definitely the better case of the two. It has a bottom-mount PSU, cable routing holes, tool-less drive bays, and supports more fans.

However, when you consider that they're both $60 shipped, I'd also look at these:

Rosewill Challenger (same thing internally as the M59)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153

Raidmax Iceberg (one of the better top PSU mount designs I've seen)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156198

Cooler Master HAF 912 (Functionally the best of any of these)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233

NZXT Lexa S (Basically an M59 with more fans included and a fan controller...$55 wit promo till the 26th, with a %15 rebate)

I've built a system for a client of mine with that case. I'm also thinking about getting it for myself.

However, If I remember correctly you have to insert the HDD from the opposite side of the case, so you have to take off the right side panel in order to get it in. It's only because of the way they made the screwless clips for the hdd's and cdrom's.

The cables face the back panel, yeah... it helps with cable management. Gives a nice clean look. :)

Woah, I smell copyright infringement! lol! I do like the Rosewill one, but it just had a weird generic name. Rosewill. Made me hesitant. Sometimes your gut is just wrong though. I'll get that one. I am a sucker for the LED in the fan.

Copyright infringement?

Rosewill is Newegg's house brand...it's not exactly obscure. No worries :good:

lol I just meant the design. It looks so similar. It reminded me of this mock trial thing I did in junior high. Boomerama inc vs. BOOMArang corp or something. Hehehe.

Well there's only so many things you can change about a case, haha...it more or less has to be box-shaped :/

Unless you meant the Rosewill and NZXT cases...they just use the same manufacturer. (Superflower or Casing Macron for those, I think.)
