I'm using an HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop running Windows XP, and I'm having a problem with the display. When I turn on the computer, I get to the Windows XP screen with the status bar, and then the screen goes black. I can put the computer into hibernate mode, turn it back on, and the screen is no longer black and the computer is useable. However, there are little vertical black lines on the icons. I can go into safe mode and i don't get the black screen, and the display is fine. I tried to install a graphics driver from the HP website, and it didn't change anything. Does anyone know what else to try?
