MS XP Firewall

I have recently reformatted and reinstalled the software to my C: drive and it is operating muck faster. Previously I used Zonealarm as a firewall and was happy with it, but this time I am trying to minimise unnecessary duplication of installed software so I don't start slowing it down again.

Is the MS XP firewall adequate or do I need to reinstall Zonealarm? I have to admit that I do miss the activity icon that diaplays incoming and outgoing internet traffic.

The ZoneAlarm firewall is more comprehensive as it includes outbound protection, and cannot be so easily disabled or avoided by malware. Security wise, I would recommend disabling the Windows firewall and using a third party program such as ZoneAlarm.
