My Eyes Are Killin' Me!

I think I may have adjusted my monitor display wrong, since I'm starting to get these headaches when I play my games! I basically put everything on the highest possible settings just before my monitor would say "Cannot Display This Video Setting". I don't know too much about dpi's and all of that. Can somebody tell me what a comfortable setting would be for gaming? thanks for the help..

In times like these, the higher the ingame resolution, the lower the refresh rate is going to tbe. And its the refresh rate that will hurt your eyes. So you may want to drop the resolution and adjust the refresh rate for which the game uses.

Standard not to fancy Crt's manages;

17" 1024x768 @ 85Hz
19" 1280x1024 @ 85Hz
21" 1600x1200 @ 85Hz

Try and run at least 85Hz, make sure you've got the newest correct driver for the monitor, not the plug & play ones.

nope. one would think i had a crt, but it's actually your everyday flat panel lcd (Dell). I looked on the boxes of my games, but I can't find anywhere that it tells about refresh rates. Is there a pretty standard setting that I can use for all my games? I'm playing stuff like Doom3, Need For Speed Underground 2, and Comanche 4. thanks..

IDK the science behind it, but it does.Obviously not everyone is affected, but there are quite a few who get sick.

Do you know what the responsee time of the Monitor is?

A low refreshrate causes a flicker which can strain your eyes. Anything below 85Hz makes me feel nauseous, and sometimes also causes a headache.

response time? not sure. where can i go to find that? in the computer somewhere? don't know where my literature is..

yeah, about the eye strain & headaches though.. wow! i NEVER get headaches. and after 10-15 minutes, i'm feeling pretty sick, and my head and eyes are killin me! it's set at 75Hz now, but when i tried to raise it, it wouldn't let me. guess i didn't get a very good monitor. and i'm not so sure where the resolution should be either. any more advice would be nice! thanks..

I think the most interesting point about that is the lesbian orgasms and i think you should buy the new nvidia lesbian porn viewer!

fmk78 as your a new member I just want to say don't get discouraged from Computer Forum because of people like the above poster (yaoming) Unfortunately children do happen upon this site also and it seems this one spends much time looking at porn and getting ready for a future of crime.

My monitor refresh rate is only 60Hz, but the response time is 8ms. I don't get headaches very often and I am on my computer almost all the time.

Yes well he should not get headaches from the LCD anyhow as the reason why most people get headaches from CRTS are because they are always redrawing the picture so the refresh rate needs to be high as possible to make this seem seamless. LCDs are not constantly redrawing the screen but rather refreshing (changing) pixels where needed as things on the screen changes.

well thanks for all the help on this guys. sorry i haven't responded for a while, but i was smack dab in the middle of hurricane Wilma, so my power/internet has been out for 3 weeks! it's great to finally be back. my screen is much better now. the refresh was way low, and some other settings weren't quite right. the head/eye aches have vanished! thanks again..

Heh, how about
21" 1024x768 @ 60Hz
My monitor was made back in 90' so its very restricting.
