Need free anti-virus with lowest PC resource use

I just reinstalled windows in an old PC - to have on hand as a backup for internet access. I need to give it an anti-virus software.

It's Pentium 4, Windows XP, 1GB RAM system.

I know AVG is an option - but the most recent edition I installed on my main PC - seems to be alot more robust than the past option.

Is there a decent free anti-virus that won't zap all the resources of my PC.

Yes, indeed it is. How'd your computer "fail", lol? Anyways, I used it for the longest time and had no problems, but now, I install MSE onto all my new computers guess you could call me a Microsoft fanboy

I found nod32 to be really light and works well.

Yes that or Eset Smaart security...which is basicly nod32.
