Need help with pc build for friend

I have a friend who wants an estimation for a basic home use PC; he just wants to do things like watch movies, browse the internet and whatnot. He wants to use his TV for a monitor (has hdmi output) and he has a mouse and keyboard. Can anybody give me a rough guestimate what it will cost for just the computer itself? Maybe post some parts? Thanks all

You could do that for about $600. Does he want an ATX mid tower or do you think a mATX build would be better?

If it's for basic internet, email, photo editing and zero games, except for the basic ones that come with windows, go for something like this:

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...12&cm_re=amd_phenom_x2-_-19-103-912-_-Product

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_re=AM3_motherboard-_-13-157-191-_-Product

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...0145324&cm_re=8GB_DDR3-_-20-145-324-_-Product (only because it's so cheap!!)

GPU: Integrated. Will do for general home use and flash games, etc.

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2185&cm_re=samsung_1tb-_-22-152-185-_-Product

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...094&cm_re=seasonic_psu-_-17-151-094-_-Product

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=coolermaster_case-_-11-119-206-_-Product

Windows: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=windows_7_64_bit-_-32-116-754-_-Product

Optical: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...106348R&cm_re=blu_ray-_-27-106-348R-_-Product

That's $725.92 before shipping/rebates.

It can do anything they want as far as they are concerned. If they have a TV they can hook it up via HDMI and watch blu-rays.

Could also unlock the CPU to a quad, not guaranteed though.

With the parts selected, you could also add a dedicated GPU.

Those looks really good but the optical drive isn't in stock :( which is fine because I don't know if he will be messing around with blue rays anyway. I'll ask him but it would probably be nice to save an extra 80 bucks and get a dvd burner. Everything else looks pretty solid, thanks for the post.
