Need Reccomendation on Intel CPU + Mobo combination

Budget is 300 bucks. Though if your reccomendation is up to a maxium of $400 and you believe it it to be that much worth it compared to a 300 dollar combination that still post it.

Well in that case, then the i5 is definitely the way to go. Great price for the performance.

As for the DDR2 in the DDR3 slots...I'm not sure, but I'd doubt it. I'd recommend jumping to DDR3 RAM.

That is not correct. DDR3 RAM slots are keyed differently so that DDR2 memory cannot fit in them. DDR2 RAM will not work in a Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H Motherboard. You have to buy DDR3 RAM if you are buying the Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H Motherboard.

The Core i5 750 Processor and Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H Motherboard are great components for a system.

I recommend getting a Phenom II x4 955 as your current mobo would take it. Spare money get a 4890 as you are using XP
