network adapter

im getting a new comp and i need a network card, im using broadband, and it says my interent speed is 54mpbs, i just wondered if i have to get a network card that is 54mbps, cause i see alot of ones that are 125 and 300mbps and i wondered if it would be any fast if i got one of those?

All somewhat recent motherboard/computers come with an integrated NIC, unless you're referring to wireless.

Your internet speed isn't 54Mbps, thats just the max throughput of an 802.11g wireless card. You don't need anything great then that if you are only using your network for internet access, however if you plan to share large files or stream media over the network (not the internet), then I would go with the 802.11n draft devices, although you will need a new router and new wireless cards for all the devices on the network.
