Total price - $1,100

My friend is the one who picked out the parts for me, but asking a few other firends, they haven't agreed with this build completely. $1,100 is pushing the upper limits of how much I'll spend, if I can make it cheaper, I'd be a lot happier.

I was thinking it might be better to buy a cheaper video card now and then upgrade once the Directx10 ones come down in price. I'd like to build a good gaming computer that can last me 5 years+.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!

i would take the ENERMAX over the CORSAIR for the PSU, this is because the ENERMAX has a higher amp rating on the 12V rails than the CORSAIR does.

couple of things, take the processor down a notch to the E6400, it can be OCed to the E6600 fairly easily if you know what you're doing

also find that case without the power supply and choose that one, the case you have now comes with a power supply but you would end up throwing it away because it's not as good as either of the ones you picked out.

What do you think of Joes build? It looks like a really good build. I want to be able to run games like Spore and future games at pretty high settings at least for a few years. I think Joes build with a nice soundcard and then an upgrade to the Directx 10's after they drop will be good. Agree/disagree?

The Enermax has +12V@32A, the Corsair +12V@50A. The Corsair is a much better unit, hence the price tag. I really wouldn't recommend that Enermax, though, you could go for the Corsair HX520W to keep the price down. It's still quite sufficient for any single GPU system.

Looks good. If you don't mind purchasing outside newegg, i'd get this PSU as a minimum. It really depends on which DX10 GPU(s) you intend to use.

Hey guys slowly working things out with the computer, I already got the suggested case from CompUSA on a nice rebate, was wondering what you thought about this ram as compared with the one posted above.

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=srch1&Ntt=PNY+2GB%281GBx2%29+PC2%2D5300+667MHz+240pin+DDR2+DIMM+Memory+Kit&N=0&Dx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&D=PNY+2GB%281GBx2%29+PC2%2D5300+667MHz+240pin+DDR2+DIMM+Memory+Kit&Ntk=All&product_code=340943

and if that link doesn't work go to

http://www.compusa.com/default.asp

and do a search for

PNY 2GB(1GBx2) PC2-5300 667MHz 240pin DDR2 DIMM Memory Kit

Thanks again! You guys have been a great, great help!
