PC wont boot when external drive attached

I have a pc running xp pro and for the last 6 months I have had a Buffalo external 2tb drive attached configured in raid 5.
I have had no problems at all until today, when I boot up the pc it hangs in the blue screen saying windows is starting. The only way to get windows to start is either to take out the usb from the raid drive or shut down and then take out the usb from the raid drive and reboot.
Recapping windows will only start without the raid drive connected.

I have tried the raid drive on another pc running xp pro and it boots up fine.

Weird problem as there has to be a conflict between the first pc and the Buffalo as both work without fine without the other.

Anyone got any ideas how to retify this?
