pci wireless help needed

I have a linksis wireless router thats working fine but the signal at the remote pc in the den is only 2 bars out of 5.

My question is will a wireless pci extender antenna on the remote pci card help get a stronger signal, or is the antenna only for the router transmitter?

Thanks

The main PC with the wireless router is in the office part of my home, the remote PC is my wife's computer with a pci wireless card, and about 75 feet away thru four walls on her desk in another room.
The "View Wireless Networks" option shows the signal strength at 2 bars out of 5.

I was wondering if I replaced the 4" antenna on the pci card in her PC, with a larger antenna or got a antenna wth a cord which can sit higher on her desk to get a better signal?

Chances are you would pick up a better signal. I currently have a 6 dbi external antenna attached to my router and I can easily walk around the whole house and still maintain 5 bars. The only place where I sometimes don't get full reception is my upstairs Living Room. But, I still get decent signal there. Check out this one:http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=5DBI-INDOOR-ANTENNA&cat=NET

Or, this one looks good too:http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=9-DBI-ANTENNA&cat=NET

I would recommend the second one more because it has 9 dbi's which is pretty good.

So I would have to install the antennas on the wireless router to boost the signal, instead of installing the antenna on the remote PC's pci card to increase the reception, right?

I don't think it matters, but I recommend plugging it into the router so all of the wireless LAN devices will be high gained.
