Phonem II 955 3.2ghz AM3 Overclocking

Hi Guys, ordered my full setup today.

Just after some targets when I get it running.

Phonem II 955 with a Coolermaster v8 HSF
on a Asus M4A79T Deluxe Mobo.

What can I expect to hit stable with the above and excess case fans (Ill have six lol)

3.6Ghz is common and stable. 3.8 not too rare either.

I've heard that it was pretty easy to reach 4.0 GHz on aftermarket coolers

stock 3.2 should hit 4ghz easy if its anything like the 720 2.8 to 3.9

Well all the parts should arrive this week (just got my Zalman ZM-MFC1 today lol) so Ill probably get round to putting it together next week (moving into my first house this weekend).

So next week ill push the envelope haha should be fun.

Yeah you should be able to get close to 4ghz. out of it.

Hi again. Been searching the net for a good AMD 955 overclocking tutoirial and found this:

Now.... Im just confused on a few steps as Ive never OC before.

What do they mean in step 5? Do they mean increase both the clock speed and the multiplyer? Or just the multiplyier?

And step 12? Is that overclocking the chipset in the Asus M4A79T Deluxe?

There using that Overdrive. I do it by the bios. Since it unlocked you can use either the X or the bus. Or alittle of both. Depends, you can just use the X and bump up the CPU voltage to get as high as you can, and everything else stays at default setting (memory and HT). If you use the Bus the memory and HT gets overclocked, then you have to start looking at your N/B and memory voltage.

When they are talking about overclocking the N/B they are refering to the Hypertransport, it can be done by the Bus if your using it to overclock the CPU or by the HT X in the bios.

Are they using the bus and the X? Or just the X? It doesnt say anything on there about the memory or HT getting OC?
