Problem with Compaq CQ60 Screen

The screen comes up all fuzzy when I turn it on like these pictures show.


Do you know what the problem is? How do you recommend that I fix it?

Honestly I don't know what to look for with my GPU. How will I know if it's faulty? Will the laptop work if it isn't in?

it will work but wont show a picture.
Test it by plugging in an external monitor and seeing if the issue persist.

I've tried plugging in another monitor, but I have always struggled. For some reason, even when the laptop did work it rarely connected successfully to another monitor. And also does anyone have any tips on how to remove the dam screws? The screwdriver keeps slipping and im afraid to thread the screws.

you will need a good eyeglass screwdriver set for them.

Have you tried plugging in a external with the laptop off and then turning it on? Thats what I have to do on my HP. It will not connect to a VGA while powered on.

I've tried doing that, nothing happens.
It seems to boot up normally, just really fuzzy. No idea what to do with it... Over warranty by a couple of months and cost me £500...

Where do you recommend I get one? How much do you think it would cost?
I don't want to take it back to currys and have to pay like £200 just to repair it :(
