recording program

my brother was saying he was looking for a program to record what he was playing so he can post vids to youtube, but he asked me for a program that does it but i dont know of any, do you guys?

Program called Fraps is pretty good, a lot of people use it. Only thing is, the free version only records 30 seconds at a time and without sound.
Another program a lot of people use it Xfire, well I think that is what it is called. Haven't had much experience, but people say it's like steam without the store and can record.
Might wanna check it out.

Xfire is basically the hub of PC gamers. It does have a record function, however when I last used it to say it lagged like hell would be an understatement.

I Would say Fraps is the best, unless he is playing in Windowed mode, then there are loads of desktop recorders
