Recovering files in Windows 8.1 from a Windows 7 backup

Hi CF,

I have a file backup from Windows 7 on a USB hard drive that I'd like to recover files from. This is proving to be difficult.

This is the message I am given when clicking on "Restore your files with File History":

This is the backup location on the Verbatim external hard drive:

The Backup Set folder contains multiple Backup Files:

It seems to be the backup restore utility that is causing it.i believe there should be a setting that use the legacy mode to allow such operation
