I have heard mixed reviews, does anyone have experience on these as far as boot times and such. some people say its a near instant boot and others have said they haven't noticed a difference at all.

With no moving parts they are far less fragile that any standard Sata or Pata drive. The latencies are virtually nonexistant since you see instant access to data while the mechanical drive takes time to scan the sectors as the heads go over the platters.

You might not notice any particular improvement as far as the time it takes for Windows to start up being loaded into memory but should readily see a big difference running a file search or simply browsing the folders! But that also comes with a larger price tag at present.

For those not familiar with SDRAM or RAM drives using ICs a good description can be read at http://www.pctechguide.com/31HardDisk_SolidStateDrives.htm
