is there anything on windows which shows you detailed specification of your machine? or do you have to just use the comps manual?

Well.
There is right clicking My Computer.

And a program called CPU-Z which is more detailed.

but honestly i would just download everest home edition its better.

The Device Manager (Start, Run, "devmgmt.msc", Enter) will tell you the basics. If you want anything more in depth like Nevakonaza I recommend downloading a free program like Everest or Sis Sandra. They'll tell you all you'd ever want to know plus more.
