SSD and Flash

I believe flash drives are just regular flash memory, SSD's use something called NAND.

The thing that makes SSD's good is their controller, which controls the drive basically, does garbage collection and all that.

NAND is just a type of flash memory (typically used for flash drives - USB, SSD, memory cards, etc). NOR is another (typcially used for your BIOS).
