I have ripped most of my DVDs to my desktop upstairs. I have a Linksys 2.4GHz Wireless-G router. My plan is to buy a laptop and hook it up to the TV downstairs instead of buying a DVD player. I'm planning on getting a laptop anyways, so I would save money that way. Would I be able to play the video over the wireless network, or would the connection be too slow?

I'm going to assume those are HOMEMADE DVDs, as discussion of anything other than would be against the forum rules.
And yes, I use a measly 54Mbps router and I watch videos off of my desktop all the time. For me, it takes about 15 seconds for it to load at first, and then from there you don't notice anything different at all, it's just like if you were watching them from the computer they were stored on.
