svchost.exe-Application Error

I using a Aser notebook with windows XP Pro SP2. When I login to desktop, a error appear....!!

svchost.exe-Application Error

The instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory at "0x00000010" The memory could not be "written".
Click OK to terminate the program.
Click CANCEL to debug the program.

After that, i unable to access any program even i try open a file also cannot... It just like pc hang already... Then I try to open Task manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+delete, still nothing happened... the task manager didn't display on the screen...(Any button I try to press also useless.... like restart, log off, or shutdown)

Try running the recovery file from the system disc. That's a critical system process that got corrupted. It may be a virus, try a non destructive revcovery first, if not, boot get knoppix running, backup the files, and do a hard reformat.
