Team fortress 2 lag!!! Omfg its pissing me off!

I have a high spec PC:
8 gigs of dd3 1333mhz
core i7 sandy bridge 2.1 ghz
ati 5870
ssd

I play almost every single ****ing game on MAX. but team fortress 2....
I DONT KNOW WHY, but ever 5-10 ****ING SECONDS i get a 5 SECOND LAG SPIKE where the game is completely frozen, the last played sound ingame repeats over and over. then it unfreezes and im DEAD. ITS PISSING ME OFF. Ive tried lowering setting to bare minimum, custom configs, windowed mode. IT EVEN DOES THIS IN THE MENU. WHAT IS GOING ON!!?

Sorry for this rage but its pissing me off to the edge, i tried everything and nothing fixes it, i need help PLEASE.

This could be a problem branching from many of things, power insufficiency, too high of an overclock, temperature problems, ping... ect.

we need more information.

Try a fresh install of the game. if it is happening in TF2 but no other games there is a good chance that the instillation is messed up.
