hey im using my pc for gaming pictutre editing and video editing this set up any good

a8n sli delux or the premier mobo
samsung spin point 250 gig
amd 64 3700
Corsair Pro LED Twin Pack DDR PC3200 (400) 184 Pin Non-ECC Unbuffered CAS 2-3-3-6
geforce 7600 or 6800 gs
580W HiperPower Type-R Modular Blue PSU

would the upgrade from the 3700 to the x2 4200 be a worthwhile 100 pound on wuite a tight budget.

and is the 7600 better then the 6800 gs

the gs is an underclocked version of a given chipset, i have the 7600 gs and i love it, it has passive cooling, so no fan.... but, to answer your question the 7600 would be much much better than a 6800 gs, probably 50-75% better overall

the 7 series cards run faster, i had a 6800 gt oc and i like this 7600 gs better .......even though my 7600 gs was only 100 bucks and the 6800 gt oc was 300

I definitly think its worth while. Since you said you will be picture and video editing. There will be a major increase in performance with programs such as CS2.

Well if it was more of a mainstream editing computer then maybe but the only editing cards i know of are like 1300 dollars. I think the card he has chosen is just fine.

For picture/video editing, either of the video cards you listed should serve you well. I too would choose the dual core processor.

The 7600GS is NOT better than the 6800GS. The 7600GT IS better than the 6800GS (which 7600 does matter).

More an issue for rendering than image/video editing.

I'd say yes, but you might want to consider the X2 3800+ as well. You still get a Dual Core CPU, but at a lower price.

ok to clear things up... a dual core processor would be best for video editing, so yes it's worth the upgrade. also, the 7600GT isn't THAT much better than the 6800gs, only by 5-10%. where did you get 50-75% from?? that makes no sense the 7600gt is 128-bit, not to mention no benchmark would ever show such a big difference!
7600gs < 6800gs < 7600gt
EDIT: 7600gs < 6800gs < 7600gt < 7800gt overclocked

The one that said the 7600GT is better didn't say that it was 50-70 percent better. The one that said the 7600GS is better said that.
