What laptop would be best for email, surffing, music, and uploading photos from camera to a website?

Best Buy-

Compaq 10.1" Netbook w/ Intel Atom Processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows 7 Starter - $149.99

or

Walmart-

eMachines 15.6" Laptop w/ 2GB Memory, 250GB HDD and Windows 7 Home Premium- $198

The eMachines will be faster, but less portable.
The netbook will be less powerful, but far more portable

They will both serve your purpose fine.
BTW, that's a sweet deal on both. Prices in the UK are way higher.

E-Machines generally do not use quality parts in the systems they build. I would avoid anything they make.

I would look at Toshiba, Sony or Acer laptops.

acer laptops are cheap but use much better parts than emachine.

its not worth saving a couple bucks buying unreliable computer.

in our case, i would get the netbook just cuz it wont break down

I have the ACER e-Maqchine E-442-V133 it was only $275US and I had a $260 Best Buy gift card, so I bought one.
And it'been a very nice small laptop,very nice to have for lite Net. work it's not a game playing machine, but for the price it does a great job.
