What to look for. For gaming?

Hello

Okay so let me just putt it out there, I have very little to no basic inside computer knowledge, All i know is you need a decent amount of ram. And a decent Graphics card.

So what i am trying to find out is. What else should i look for when buying a computer (Yea i know building a comp is probably a better choice, But I'm just gonna purchase a factory or Premade computer) for gaming. I want to be able to play regular games like, Rift, World of Warcraft, the new battlefields and CoD's. And other sorta high graphic games like the new Final Fantasy Left 4 Dead, Etc..

But so far when browsing for computers, As mentioned above. All i know to look for is Memory count and a Graphics card. Not sure what else can benefit to playing games on a computer

I when't ahead and browsed some Desktop PC's on Best Buy's website and found several PC's ranging from the 500 - 1k$ range. But not entirely sure which would be the best choice for decent computer gaming

If you guys can tell me what i should look for i'd greatly appreciate it. Want to get out of this 300$ not-so-good gaming computer i currently have

Thanks in advance.

Look for a good Processor such as Intel i5, i7. Or AMD Phenom x 4 9xx series, Phenom x 6 series. (There are some others, just pointing out popular ones)
4GB of RAM will be great.
Good graphics card.
Good ratings on the computer your buying.
Good Power supply(although I doubt you'll be able to find one in a pre-built)

Do you know anyone who can build a computer for you if you get the parts? I'd suggest that.

CyberpowerPC and Ibuypower are decent pre-built gaming computer sites.
Would you mind posting the links to the computers you were interested in?

That computer, while it has six cores, your games will not be using them all. Therefore the slow processing speed (2.7Ghz) will slow your gaming down.

I'd suggest looking at another computer.

Thanks for the replys! That sucks

Well i was checking out the sites you provided. How, In your opinion will these 2 PC's handle the games i mentioned. If you, or anyone else can give me a quick heads up =P

And

http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/AMD_Phenom_II_AM3_DDR3_Configurator

The first ones price is set at 479, That i really like and is very affordable, But I'm sure that 479 has something sorta bad compared to other gaming PC's correct?

Awesome.

Okay! Now i am almost done with my wall of questions lol.

It seems there is actually a selection of things where we can add on, Like A new card, Heck anything really

The graphics card I'm sure i can deal with, But the PSU I'm not entirely sure. From reading that what PSU number can you recommend me adding to that PC?

And thank you for helping me out.

You should get a bttr vid card...5770 and up(6850, 6870, 6950...etc.)
For PSU, go with th 650W Corsair for $99... :)

Oh yea im deffin gonna buy myself a new card

Also.. I'm sorry to say it but i got some more computers for you guys to look at :D. Was talking to a friend in WoW and he told me to check out a site called Newegg, They have a ton of selections and the shipping is rather cheap. Anyone ever use that site before?

They have some pretty awesome PSU, some 700!

Anyways here is what ive been looking at

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229237

Which of these would you guys recommend me using for what im trying to use a computer for.

One thing why i am confused is because 1 of them uses this as a processor (AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz) That means 6 processor's correct? If so then this is the same thing that you mentioned on my first computer i posted here right Zach?, And what you wrote back about the 6 processor's. Will the computer also have the same affect?

If I were you and sometime in the future maybe wanted a new computer and didn't want to build my own computer I'd get someone I know (or someone reliable here on the forum) to pick your parts and maybe even build it for you (no forum-users ofc). Or you could just let the store you're buying from build it for you.

Cyberpowerpc is pretty good. If you want a truely fine machine check out Puget or AVAdirect. They can both be real high priced but are well reviewed by their customers. Here's a list of others:

IbuyPower
CyberPower
XiComputers
addict
digitalstormonline
vigorgaming
MonarchComputers
Falcon nw
Alienware
Abs
