where post beeps come from?

here are some questions pls answer all if possible
1. are system beeps came from your cpu?
2. if i installed a cpu on a motherboard and it gives no beeps what does it mean? a faulty cpu?
3. would it give no beeps if you used a unsupported cpu?
4. would it give no beeps if you remove the ram and power on with a unsupported cpu?

1. System beeps come from the motherboard through the sytem speaker if one is installed.

2. Doesn't necessarily mean a bad cpu, could be a bad motherboard or a lot of other different things.

3. Depends on the motherboard, sometimes the computer will work ok with an unsupported cpu.

4. If no ram is installed and you have a system speaker installed you will hear a series of beeps telling you there is no ram installed.

Many motherboards have the system speaker installed directly on the motherboard, usually 1"x1" or less.

The higher end motherboards maybe but the low end boards still require a separate system speaker either attached to the case or speaker actually attached to the pins.

I haven't seen a system speaker mounted in a case for years, although I have seen lower end boards include a small speaker with their motherboards that need to be plugged into the motherboard.

My speaker came with my case, not my motherboard. No idea why, cause they usually come with the Mobo.

theres no Pentium D on the CPU support site table

Is it ok to install Pentium D on this? because it wont beep it just lights up

Like I said, it all depends, it may or may not work. You should have bought a board that supported that processor.

The beeping could mean a plethora of things. Look at the motherboard manual and it gives you the information of what each beep pattern means.

You know, usually, no beep is a GOOD thing. Beeps mean something is wrong. At least with more modern computers.
