In the last 3 days, I've been having some serious trouble with the computer, more exactly with Windows 7 (Ubuntu seems to be working just fine). I had 3 or 4 crashes in the first day, and one every other day... (Good thing that I use Ctrl+S keyboard shortcut after every line, so no important information was lost.)
I don't know what's going on, but looks serious. I never had this many crashes in such a short time span.
For some reason, WinDbg doesn't work either, it freezes when trying to Load unloaded modules.... so I can't get any useful info about the crash from the memory dumps, except for the error code.
The minidump files are here (.zip, 128kb, dropbox), hopefully they will be useful.
I also managed to take a photo of the last crash:
Most of the error codes are 0x4E, one 0x0 and one 0x8E.
My computer is an Acer Aspire 5732ZG, and it is about 1 year old (bought it in june 2010).
What could be wrong?
Update: In a marathon of troubleshooting, I found out that error 0x4E, aka PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, can caused by malfunctioning drivers, which write where they shouldn't. Trying to find which driver was causing all the trouble, I enabled the Driver Verifier (verifier.exe), which caused an infinite loop of crashes.
After I disabled the verifier I looked at the system restore points, and found one which was a day before the first crashes. This restore point was made after a windows update.
So, the problem was either a windows update, or another program update (which happened very closely and didn't left a restore point; the program is an internet filter, K9, and I think it works in kernel space). Did a system restore, and everything seems to be working fine....
