So... after thinking I was great about to buy an insanely oversized wifi antenna, I thought about it. Will it be able to communicate with a wireless router?

My thought was something like this: My super antenna can reach a router, but can that router reach my super antenna?
Do I have to buy 2? One for my computer and one for my router?

Also, dBi? What does it mean? Is it the range? If so, being about 30 foot away from the router plus whatever interference its going to get 2 floors up, what should i aim for? I'm looking at a 7dBi, would that be decent?

I have a Rosewill wifi pci slot card, and it came with a 3db? I am about 50ft away and it gets a 95% signal, so i think that 7db would be good, I am thinking of upgrading mine to an 8db one, if anyone has had any experience with this, does it 8db work better than the 3db in standard browsing, and maybe gaming online?
