X hardrive not showing up

I plugged in an external drive, it said installing driver, device is now ready. However it doesn't show up in My Computer so I can't acces it. In device manager it shows it in a USB but again I can't do anything with it. I have updated the latest driver. Its on vista 32

right click on my computer or computer , go to manage , whats under disk management?

If it is a brand new drive, maybe you just need to format the drive. The new non formatted drives won't show in My computer.
