X2 5600+ vs X2 6000+

I was thinking of upgrading from my X2 4400+ on my gfs to a X2 5600/6000+

I got a buddy that is selling the 5600+ for about 80 bucks.

X2 5600+

X2 6000+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103773

Current rig is
X2 4400+ 2.3ghz
8800GT 512mb GPU
250gb HD
2x 1gb G-skill pc6400 (buying 2 more)
MSI K9N SLI-F nForce 570LT Socket AM2+
vx450w PSU (site with specs http://hothardware.com/Articles/Corsair_VX450W_450W_Power_Supply/ )

The one thing I worry about is the heat. this area gets about 80/85F the 8800GT to my utter surprise never peaks 60c (Think rivatuner is broken on it)

I use a after market cooler a Freezer 64 Pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185125&Tpk=freezer+64+pro
Which I have a second 120mm fan hooked on it to increase air flow. My 4400+ runs at 27-30idle and 36-38 on high load when room is 82F.

I like the 6000+ just because its 2mb cache vs 1mb and I hear there is a issue with the 5600+ underclocking ddr2 ram to 800 vs 1066.

I am going to have to use the Freezer 64 Pro going a little over budget with her upgrades + rest of her birthday stuff so if anyone has any clues would appreciate it :)

If life has thought me anything is that never buy stuff from friends. For some reason they just don't seem to last when ownership is transferred.Get the 6000+ it's still a good CPU.

Yeah but I am not to worried he is pretty good with his hardware not the first chip I bought from him either the 4400+ was his too originally ^-^ I treat deals with friends like I do ebay you buy knowing it could break within 10 mins of using it.

Are you sure how ever the cooler I have will be able to handle the heat?

Is the 5600 he has the one in the link or the 90nm. Windsor core with 2mb of L2 at 2.8ghz. The new Brisbane 5600 only has 1mb of L2

Its Brisbane with 1mb sadly. Reason I was curious if her cooler could handle the 6000+ since it would be better for gaming.

AS5 all the way.

Thank you I thought it could handle it but always good to make sure specially after my single core 4000+ screw up.

You were talking about the 5600 under clocking the memory. The 6000 has a odd X so it does to. DDR2 800 runs around 375/750 mhz. The 90nm. 5600 that runs at 2.8 like mine runs at full speed. But if you decide to overclock it gives the memory alittle more head room.
