ok, what i want to know is should i use the current 9800gt i have sitting on my desk as a paperweight, or should i buy an 8800gtx/ultra and sell the 9800 to my friend, if it helps any i only game on a 17 inch moniter(it would only be about 100 dollars to get the gtx/ultra if i sold my 9800)

Well, the 8800GTX / Ultra uses the old, out-dated G80 Core. Whilst the newer 9800GT uses the G92 Core.

It's a tough call to be honest. I'd probably stick with the 9800GT as you're only going to be using a 17" monitor, you won't really need the bigger memory on the GTX or Ultra.

Hope this helps.

if your on ingtegrated, by all means buy a new card... i thought you said you had a 9800 though, which would be perfectly fine for current games.

Stick with what you have, its plenty powerfull enough for now.

give it a yeah or so then upgrade,no point in keep changing, upgrading a GFX card every few months like some people do its just stupid.
games dont evolve that quick to need a whopping 2GB of VRAM and a powerhouse :D
