running p3 processor, wanted to go on line....

didnt see any cat5 plugs? it has usb 1.0 i think?

wondered if someone could help....

thanks,p

What? What are you asking here i didnt quite understand? lol
He wants it to go online but it doesn't have any Cat5/ethernet ports.

Thats it: http://www.bobjohnson.com/_store/Display_Buy.asp?prodID=395_PANA_TB_CF27

I would 1: buy a DVD drive for this

2: put on xp

3. Buy a wireless PCMCIA card if your router is wireless. If it isn't wireless get a Cat5/Ethernet PCMIA Card that is: 2 Type I/II or 1 Type III.

(of course if you find a PCMIA Card that works with 2000 you wont need to do step 1 or step 2

Great! You don't need a burnable drive. Ok so After looking online this one will work just fine!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124138

I think this will work fine.

purchased

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...nksys/Common/VisitorWrapper&lid=5659245678B21

requires window 2000 to work. currently i have windows 98 ver 4.10.1998

got copy of 2000 upgrade, tried to install.

says software that does not support windows 2000....

"BACKPACK FINDER in control panel" version 4.03
"yamaha ds-xg audio config" version 5.12.01.2228

what now?

i found

http://driverscollection.com/?H=DS-XG&By=Yamaha&SS=Windows 2000

will this take care of yamaha ds-xg? guessing thats sound card?

and what i do about backpack finder?

says to remove these drivers from my pc before installing windows 2000. not sure what to do.....

thanks, all HELP AND SUGGESTIONS appreciated. thanks, merry xmas!!!!

Anyhow upgrades even though cheaper cause Flictions. Thats why when windows 7 comes out I'm not buying the upgrade because vista will prob say i just screwed you over. Anyhow Purchase a Full version of windows 2000 even though it should have came installed on tough books. I want to recommend XP as it doesn't have crap plug and play systems but I doubt theres drivers for a C27 on XP

my mistake...it has windows 98 version 1? installed...4.10.1998

i have xp sp3 on disk to install. told too much for pc.

now i got linksys wpc100 wireless card.

tried to install wireless driver. says it needs windows 2000 installed.

i have upgrade disc.

but when i wanted to upgrade, i have to un install

backpack driver
yamaha DS-XG audio config

before i upgrade as i may not be able to uninstall after update.

and i was told i cannot go back to windows 98 if 2000 doesnt work????

sorry for the confusion, thanks for the help, hope this clears it up...

wondered if i should just go get

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16839124002&Tpk=pcm200

says works windows 95+98....?????

windows 98 or 2000?

my cf 27 specs:
pentium 2 processor, intel mmx tech, 96.0mb, 6.03gb hard drive

thanks, and merry christmas!ppj

i have copies of windows 98 with key codes...if installing 2000 messes up, i can reinstall 98 from one of the discs i have?

only xp and vista are operating system to computer specific?

so go with usb, or go with the network card and upgrade to windows 2000?

thanks for the tips
Don't go for NetGear USB sticks. Stick with the network card for now. When the card arrives install it and if it works ok don't need to upgrade to 2000
