Choosing between 2 heatsink and fans... what would u choose

the prolimatech megahalems, but i would shop around a bit before you buy from frozencpu(they overcharge on everything...)

I have the V8 and really like it...works great for me and fits perfect in my case. I like the look as well...very easy on the eyes. It keeps my Quad with a slight overclock nice and cool:D My Q9300 runs at 100% load for about 12 hours a day and can barley break 50c. The V8 will perform well.

If you are looking for just the absolute best temps...the Prolimatech Megahalems will out perform the V8. Just make sure it will fit on your motherboard (RAM, NB Cooling, Mosfit coolers) It is a large piece of equipment. That would suck to buy one and it won't fit in your case or on the motherboard:( It would be sick the throw an Ultra Kaze on that thing and let it rip!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185054&Tpk=ltra kaze is this the fan u r talking bout scout?

Scout...how bout mounting this 120 mm fan on the Megahalems .. moves about 110 CFM

That fan would be fine on there.

humm u sure i could mount that on the prolimatech megahalems .... i mean i think its ment to have a 120mm fan on it..

It is 120mm fan...but it is 38mm thick and not 25mm thick like most are.

I would make it fit:D There are other options for fans of course. Coolermaster has a kinda new fan that people love. It comes in 3 LED colors and a colorless one. It pushes 90CFM. It would also fit on there nice.

I really don't think I will buy any kind of fan but Scythe. They have been rock solid for me and never given me any issues. I have 6 running in my case:D

3 x 120mm Slip Stream 110CFM
3 x 120mm Ultra Kaze 133CFM

Temps are great with everything. GPU idles at 45c and will barley break 60c Folding wide open at 100% load. Those fans are great for your case. You will need a fan controller if you plan on putting them in a case. Wide open they no kidding sound like a vacuum:) I keep mine at about 50% speed when I am home...if I leave they go to 100% speed:D Keeps temps down while Folding and I am not around.

You can see it on the link in my sig...the fans and the V8

Kinda an overkill really...you can find a nice 60 to 90CFM fan and have great airflow also.

I use and have always used Arctic Silver 5...always been great to me. I use it on everything...NB, CPU and GPU:D (Current GPU has factory paste, have not cracked this one open yet) I used it on a 8800GTX and a 9800GTX and had no issues. Dropped temps like mad.

There are several good kinds out there (OCZ Freeze, AS5, MX2, IC Diamond 7) Any of these will be fine.

how did u put the paste on ur GPU... it sounds like a good idea i just dont wanna take apart my video card lol.. and what do u mean NB... what is that a abbrivation for? ...

You will have to take apart your gpu in order to put a new paste on it. NB means north bridge and you would have to take your motherboard's heatsink off to put new paste under it too. As for the heatsink going with megahalems would be the best but perhaps it's an overkill for q6600. But you can get it and if you ever decide to go 1366 or 1156 you will be able to install it there too. If you decide on megahalems though, I'd suggest one of these fans S-FLEX or ULTRA KAZE

I just ordered the megahalems along with 2 ultra kaze fans.. 1 for my case window and one for the megahalems... also got arctic silver 5 paste for it... reason why i decided on this cooling system is i wanted to overclock my processors while keeping them and a nice cool temp instead of going out and buying a new processor all together. and like u said when it is time to fully ugrade i can just move this heatsink to to the new rig.

i also order 4 more gigs of ram to equal 8 gigs total ... same ram i have in my signature. i should see a difference in preformance now and in the next 2 months ill be getting a new video card...

i hope you didn't order the prolimatech off of frozen cpu, as both sidewinder computers and jab-tech have it for $59.95 plus shipping, if you're going to use a 38mm fan, you'll have to pick up one of these brackets: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/prfanwiclfor1.html or ghetto mount it to your heatsink using zip ties

i didnt order it from frozen cpu... i got it from Heatsink Factory for 59.95... and i ordered the 38mm bracket from them also..
