Alienware disappeared

Probably cause they are overpriced junk and are gonna go belly up sooner than later..

They are basically expensive DELL's with a crappy plastic chassis.

you cant build you own laptop... i doubt you've ever seen a laptop bare bone on newegg... i bought an alienware M17 about 3 months ago... i agree, i wouldn't buy a desktop (unless just because of financing... which is great... i pay 81 a month for a 3 grand laptop.. if i pay it off in one year, no interest) the only reason i bought a laptop is because i do a lot of mobile gaming... sometimes i regret it... but when go to LAN party's im glad i dont got to lug around all my desktop stuff... and i needed a very powerful laptop for work (network technician)

Ive actually seen a laptop barebone just never came across any other Laptop components i.e. HDD Mobo etc etc

well... i guess lol.. so have i but its not very common lol.. i admit, there really overpriced... but for 80 bucks a month... common... ;)

Alienware is rubbish. I wouldn't ever own one. I also think gaming on a laptop is also ridiculous as well, as laptops are built for mobility, not for cutting edge performance.

I put my laptop through the ringer every day at work and it has never failed me. I like a laptop that works every time, has good battery life and can do anything I want it to (and I don't want to game).

well i do the same, will experiencing 10 second boot times... alienware isnt rubbish, there just expensive.... you say laptops arnt build for cutting edge performance, but pretty much any reputable computer company sells performance laptops...

oh hell yeah.... but i needed a powerful laptop for work, and i figured since i play a lot of games, i might as well get a quad core and 2 video cards ;)

i got a couple of em

I don't ever reboot unless I need to. I put my laptop to sleep whenever I am not using it, and occasionally shut it down when I am not going to use it for an extended period of time.

What does a 10 second boot time even get you on a laptop? As opposed to say, the 20 to 25 seconds your average laptop takes anyway? Is that worth $3,000+?

Also, gaming laptops lack other features which make a laptop what a laptop is made for, which is a mobile computer. Sager laptops that run RAID 0? You got to be kidding me, yeah if you want a 45 minute battery time, and SLI on top of that?

I am out in the field, often with out easy access to power so I need mobility. I can play any new game on my laptop.

In the end it is all personal preference and opinion of what you want to spend on a laptop and how you want to use it. It is of my opinion laptops are made for mobility and desktops are made for performance. I like my laptops to be good performers but I also like them to be mobile.

I have yet to really find any real justifications for me to ever buy a Sager or an Alienware laptop. I don't think you get the features you should get when purchasing a laptop for $3,000.

oh no.. i agree with you there... my laptops support raid 0 to... under gaming with both cards enabled i get about 1.5 hours of gameplay lol... but if i turn off one gpu, and set it to power saver mode, i can get about 2/3 hours depending what im doing... but thats a 12 cell battery... i understand what you mean man... im about to buy a little acer netbook and get throw a corsair X64 SSD in it... i hate slow things... slow computers, cars, internet...
