maybe a hint to a good story?

I didn't play Crysis in its entirity so can't really comment on the story because I don't know it fully, but what I do know of it, it is weak and near non-existant. But if this was coming out just now, I would look at it and think it has been done before. Looks like a cross between prototype (city sandbox, super duper suit (I know in prototype you didn't ahve a suit, but same gameplay), and just about every alien shooter game ever.

I know it is early days yet and the game itself and later trailers could alter my opinion, but this doesn't really grip me in the slightest

The dev's of crysis 2 has hired a HUGE author to create the story. Don't remember his name, but there are one or two interviews with him.

i really hope they bring some original story to this one. i lost interest after about 20 minutes with the first one. just didn't really entice me. so far though i would say i am excited to see this game in action (meaning me playing it :p).

So,.. prototype copied crysis. ;)

Anyways, for the story, I actually liked it. with a bit immagination it gets even better. (I prefer stories where not everything is told, since you can basically complement it yourself.)

As for the gameplay, I thought it was a good game. But too many people have been hyping it up soo much when it was released, no game could possibly live up to that. (that doesnt make the game itself bad tough.)

The part where you entered that tunnel with 0-gravity for example, that was just brilliant. I've rarely been that focussed on a game really. (well, silent hunter 3 when the sonar started pinging all of sudden.)

Anyways, I'm glad everyone's got different oppinions, else it would be pretty boring. :) (its also good to know that you're wrong, because you disagree with me. :p )

in all seriousness tough, I'm glad they're making another one.
Besides, what game nowdays is actually original? please name me 1. (Its insanely hard making something new now. story and gameplay wise. because if either of the 2 even resembles another game, its seen as a copy of that game. ) to be honest, I dont even really mind if a game isnt 100% original, as long as its good fun to play.

As for the story, well.. Its somewhat important. but I prefer really nice gameplay over a story anytime. take Tetris for example. Story: "omg, bricks are falling from the sky" but damn is it fun to play.

The music makes that trailer sound sad, sort of like one of the bioshock 2 ones. Looks good though, I just really like resistant games (like more enemy than allies). The new aliens look good, but they really think they could take them on with a few Black Hawks? It was hard enough to take out some of them with advanced weapons.

Oh and Arch, tetris is obviously the best game in the world.

Well, thats what I like too. What you're going to do when you've got nothing left? (reminds me a bit of independance day for example. :) )
If Crysis 2 is going to be as good as the first time, I'll gladly buy it on release day.

i was talking more of just the story. if you go too general well then every story made in the last 1000+ years isn't original :p. but hopefully they can bring some new and exciting elements to the usual "guy, guy in trouble with aliens, guy kills aliens, (maybe heartbreak), all is well." that's all i am hoping for.
also, i kind of think assassin's creed 1/2 is somewhat original

assasins creed, yea, those were quite good. :) I also did like the whole storyline of the Halo series. (weither you like them or not, its still fairly original.)
Halflife is quite good, Mass Effect is imo one of the best still, love that story.

But a game for me is mainly about gameplay. a great story is a nice bonus (in a shooter that is, rpg's must have a good story, else I'll be bored very fast.) But a decent story with great gameplay is enough to keep me occupied. :)

I hope they add a lot of passion to the voice acting. The graphics in the pc-version is hopefully much better compared to the consoles.. If they're able to achieve a good story, then this might become very interesting. The first game was a bit too straight forward, yet it was somewhat acceptable in the terms of plot, story etc.. The graphics was what whom powered the game. Let's just hope that crysis 2 can offer perfection from both worlds.

voice acting is probably one of the MOST underrated aspects of video games. really cheesy voice acting can ruin moments that are supposed to be dramatic (or some other mood). it is like having bad, bad, bad acting in a super-duper action movie.

Yea, that's true.

I think that the japanese games has the best voice acting so far.. Or, the new ones.

Most authors already have ideas though, you generally can't say "make a story from this" and it be good and genuine. We will see though if their "easy way out" worked.

Prototype and Crysis copied off Kid Chameleon :p

I think the only thing more important that gameplay is immersion I think, but they tend to go hand in hand. If you have a game that you can seamlessly do what you like when you like, you tend to start thinking you could be the character.

If the voice acting is THAT bad, there will be a few issues to say the least

Well, let's just hope that it succeeds with everything..
