Dual GPU?

Hey, I wanted to go Dual GPU when I get my new computer all ordered and stuff (A year or so in the future) and I wanted to go dual GPU. Now can you do this with any GPU as long as it's two of the same model?

I have a graphics card and I plan on using it in the computer so I only have to order the same model GPU, but CPU-Z only give me the model, not the company, I know it's an Nvidia GeForce 9500GT, but not whether it's Elitegroup or Zotac etc.

So my question is, does that matter or does it not matter as long as it's an Nvidia GeForce 9500GT?

It can not be done with just any GPU. The GPUs have to support CF or SLI. Some do and some don't, most newer ones do.

As for the second question, as long as it is the same chipset, they will play nice together. If there is a difference in memory (size and speed), or clock rate, it will default to the lower value.

Oh okay, thanks, good thing I didn't order before I knew that :D

Generally, from experience, Nvidia is more powerful. They both scale about the same, but SLI has better driver support.

if I were you, I would go with SLI. You will get a stronger card at the same money with CF.
(although in the same price range is 2x GTX460 and 2xHD6770. 460 is more powerful IIRC.)

Not true. Plus the 6850/6870 is in the same price range as the GTX 460.

The cheapest GTX 460 on newegg is 149 bucks. You can get a 6870 for 159 bucks.

The card in your link is a GTS 450, not a good card at all.

ah. A while back there had recertified 460s for $99. Guess they are out now.

ok, how about GTS450. 192 cores 128 bit 1GB $110. IIRC that is. HD6770, 800 cores (160 Nvidia cores) 128 bit 1GB $110. So in this case, SLI is stronger at the same price.
