Simcity5 a false start?

I had cancelled my pre-order last month as I wasn't sure about the connection speed required. I'll check out how stable the game and connection is then will get it. BTW is there any Asian server for it? Or only US/EU servers?

Oceania will be good then, still a bit far away. btw can you post some screenshots when u build a good city?

Lots of trouble with the launch last night. My grilfriend bought it and was mad she couldn't play all night. It's like the Diablo 3 fiasco, there needs to be an offline mode so that you can play when they have server issues.

This is one of the games I want to buy when I build my new computer. I don't like that you have be online tho. I have a 6 hour flight coming up and I wanted to play it on my laptop.

And this is why people should just give up on DRM...

Constantly release meaningful updates and more people will buy it, it is too much hassle to keep it up to date for the end user otherwise and it shows that the devs actually care enough about the game to work on it and enough to give something back for free, rather than pay for game fixes that should have been included from day one.

It looks like a very good game, but like so many others, is ruined by the stupidity of the developer, and like so many others, the stupidity of EA in particular

I'm sure there are non-legal ways to get it to work offline, Max Payne 3 had the same problem. I've already said too much, please don't discuss this any further :).

DRM is going to be the death of PC gaming before piracy. Claiming piracy kills gaming is like saying libraries killed places like Barnes and Noble.

As usual EA just don't care about their customers. They're in it for one thing: your money.

Amazon suspends sales of SimCity video game

'To lighten the load on its back-end servers, EA turned off some features including leader boards and achievements. It has also removed the option to run the game at its fastest setting, known as "cheetah speed". Instead, all cities will now run at the lower "llama speed".'

Well that's just bullshit

Welcome to the World :)

I'm actually happy I don't buy brand new games for a huge amount of money. No seriously you guys should wait like two or three years, prices will drop and you'll be sure that you can either play the game or not.

This might be a very stupid question... but... how is the game? I want to go get it, but reading this is making me second guess. Is it just the multiplayer that's having trouble? or is it the registration in the game itself?

The game itself is not bad, city sizes are tiny, and it has a lot less content than simcity4. But it's an alright game

Let's see...

Always online DRM
Game runs on EA servers rather than locally
Reduced city sizes, smallest of any sim city game
Simplified gameplay

And people wonder why other people hate EA? They ruin games and make money out of it.
