Just wondered what everyone thinks about the console situation, now both companies have revealed dates, prices etc.

Seems with the ps4 costing significantly less than xbox one and and sony letting you do as you wish with 2nd had games, I can`t see any reason for people to choose xbox one considering it costs more, you can`t freely trade games and although it does not need a constant internet connection, i understand it needs to go online every 24 hours.

My co-worker is a big gamer and we were discussing it yesterday and today. Microsoft basically shot themself in the foot with this one.

I used exactly the same expression as Travis just used there in a discussion with my friends at school today. ;)

I've got a friend who is mad keen on his 360 but will be wanting to upgrade to something newer soon. He's not interested in the Xbox One so that leaves the PS4 or the PC. I think he's considering PC at the moment.

http://www.computerforum.com/222272-new-xbox-revealed.html most of our Xbox One discussion is in that thread. :)

Oh yeah. Lots of people will still buy the new XBox, either because they are uninformed of the limitations or just don't care, but I think Sony would have to screw up pretty bad to not dominate this generation of consoles. I've been an XBox fan since the original, however with all of the details that they've released on it in the last week I don't see how they could possibly convince me to stay loyal to them.

Neither console is really backward compatible, but does the ability to stream your current ps3 games and play them on ps4 matter to you ?

We are selling both xbox 360 and ps3 nearer the time, but i am undecided if i will keep my favourite ps3 games or just fling the whole lot in bundle.

Do you think there is any point playing a ps3 game on the ps4 console ?

Sony will be releasing a cloud service with some number of PS3 games that you can stream from the PS4.

I don't think it's so much that Sony is doing so amazing, it's that Microsoft is making all the wrong moves.

Then again. I'm pretty pumped about the PS4. I already have it pre-ordered.

Eh I'm sure the Xbox One will sell OK. Die hard Xbox fans (and let's face it, there's a few of them about) and people who want to play Halo will buy the Xbox One. Or people who just want a games console and end up buying the Xbox.

I do however think that Sony's PS4 is a better option.

I wouldn't mind trying Halo, and Forza, but other then that PC MASTER RACE! Then PS4.

Forza is a good game, but honestly it's a bit of a rip off. I had Forza 3 when I fist got my 360 and it was great, and then when Forza 4 came out I bought it for about £42 or so, and it's basically exactly the same as Forza 3, just with a few little things added. The graphics look the same, the cars are the same, the tracks are the same (with like two new ones added) and of course they added the KiNect stuff. Other than that, it essentially feels exactly like 3.

So I'm sure Forza 5 (which is going to be available at Xbox One launch) will be almost identical to 4, which in turn was almost identical to 3.

Really though, it is a shame that two of the best racing games are console exclusives (Forza and GT). Most of the Burnout series are also only available on consoles (Burnout 3 happens to be my favourite racing game of all time).

I have heard nothing about the ps4 but a lot about the Xbox one. Off course all negative. By the time more people know the details of the ps4 it may not even matter. Xbox could have buried itself.

I assume both will sell well but until I hear of major changes I am switching back to Sony if I go console.

I'm not a console gamer I don't even own a television, so I'm an outsider speculating.

But I agree with spirit on this, Xbox has a bunch of diehard fans and some of the most popular exclusive titles will allow it to sell okay. The Xbox is what a lot of people have come be be familiar with, and in my opinion the price tag has been the main driver in getting it into home. But in the long run, I believe the Playstation is going to take over here.

I hope Sony hasn't neglected their typical quality for the price tag.
