Comparing 2 desktop gaming rigs?

I have the option of two computers. I am fairly sure the second (custom) one is better, but I am not sure by how much. I am not going to be putting too much strain on the second (It has less RAM) so that won't really matter, anyway here they are:

Number One. - $1068.98
4th Gen Intel Core i7-4770 Processor (8m cache, 3.9GHz)
Windows 7 Home Premium
12gb DDR3 RAM (Dual Channel, 1600MHz 4 DIMMs)
1TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 1.0GB GDDR5

Number Two. - $1267.99
AMD A8-6600K 3.9GHz 4 core Processor
Windows 7 Home Premium
8gb DDR3 1600 RAM
1TB HDD
GeForce GTX 650 2gb DDR5
Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Power Supply

I would like to know this forums opinion on both computers please.

Thanks.

Off the top I would say that option 1 is actually better. The i7s are beast for gaming. What kind of Video Card is in Option 1? Also, what are the price differences between the two systems?

So the first one has no graphics card which means no serious gaming and the second one has a processor which is 50% weaker then the first one. Just add a graphics card to the first one and your good to go.

Yep, as well as more RAM. Stick a decent video card in Option 1 and you are set. Also, you'll want at the very least, a 600 Watt PSU.

Oops, the first does actually have a video card, albeit not very amazing. It is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 1.0GB GDDR5.

I forgot to mention the words 'Number One' and 'Number Two' are links to the computers themselves. The first one isn't very customisable, so I cannot choose a better power source, unless I buy a second one, but hey, that's a bit of a waste.

I reckon' 12 gigabytes is enough for the first computer, though.

Other than that, thanks for the replies, I shall take it into account.

Can you build your own? You will get a MUCH better PC for the price, and it's not very hard.

Yes, I can, and the second option is a bunch of parts I can build a PC with. The thing is, I am in a budget, so I cannot do a lot. I would gladly take an Intel machine over an AMD machine, but it is so goddamn expensive. I think the MAXIMUM I can go is about 1.5k. If you have an idea as to what parts I could use to make a nice gaming computer, please let me know.

I am thinking of getting the XPS 8700 (Number One), but I want to swap out the GPU (Nvidia GeForce GTX 645) for something better... any idea what? I would like an Nvidia card, though.

$1500 is by no stretch of the imagination a tight budget. And for that, or even $1000 you can do much better than either of those.

This one will be amazing. If you want to spend less, remove the SSD.

Slightly less amazing, but great nonetheless.

These will open a can of whoop ass both those builds any game, any day.

Do not get a nVidia card. You may say you heard there are more problems with AMD, but the truth is there isn't. Do not get a non AMD card for any reason other than its better for the same price. The 290 is 770 price, 780 performance.

Those both look really awesome, but unfortunately I'd have to (If I were to choose it) go with the second for a few reasons...

1. It is cheaper. Price is quite high on the priority list.
2. I would still need to add wireless. If I tried adding a decent wireless to the >$1500 one it would go way over budget.
3. I still need a screen, keyboard, mouse, etcetera.

I know I am being quite annoying, but is there any chance you could try and make a decent (doesn't have to be awe-inspiring) gaming computer under $1200 that includes a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and wireless capability? I would do it myself, but you seem much better at it.

Right, I think I have decided.

I will get the XPS 8700 and swap out the graphics card for my brother's Nvidia GeForce GTX 660.

BAD IDEA.

Add this

These will be MUCH, MUCH, better than the Dell. You can go cheaper on the mouse and monitor if you want, I just chose those two because I own them and can vouch for them. Oh, and you make it sound like wireless is really expensive. It's not. Only $30 for a good card (my old one), and $50 for a great card (my new one).

And to get that R9 290, you will need to have auto notify rom Newegg. Then, as soon as you get a email from them buy it.

Daisy, you should read the posts above you. This will destroy the iBUYPOWER

I will gladly do this, but I would really like to know why. Why is this setup better than the Dell? If you can tell me so, I will probably change it.

Because the GPU is about 50 percent better than a 660, the 770 that is. The 290, even more.

And, that's nice. But Windows 8 is the new, better OS.

I know how much you are going to hate me now, but I converted the price to AUD (because I am Australian), and it is over $1700...

I have decided to go with the XPS.

Hear me out, I am going to install a GeForce GTX 760 and a better power supply. I really do not have the cash to throw around.
