Should I buy it?

At the thrift store, there is a bag of computer parts for $5 that I want to get. It contains an old motherboard, 2 Pentium II processors, one with a fan attached to it, and some PCI cards and two Cooler Master heatsinks with fans, still in box.

If you really want to spend that $5, go ahead. Just remember that you could be putting that money potentially spent on ancient components, into a piggy bank to upgrade your system in the future.

You honestly needed a thread for advice on this? And seriously, why can't people give their threads at least half decent titles??

It seems like a good deal, but be careful who you buy from. If it was me, I would not do it. I would use the money for something else.

I already have a 6-core Phenom, a Radeon 6950, a 1000-watt powersupply. What else could I possibly need?! :)
Why do you have a 1KW power supply?

A savings account.

Instead of spending $5 here and $10 there on useless crap that you can get for free elsewhere, you should save it up to buy something you actually want or need.

It's not a good deal, but I agree, he should not do it.

Have at it. You aren't going to be happy until you do, and then you aren't going to be happy having problems with a retro build running like crap or if at all. At the end of this scenario you'll also be unhappy that you don't have $5.

Is $5 worth the wave of disappointment? Only you can be the judge.

At least you've settled on your system. Some people wouldn't consider that as sufficient, and there's plenty more what you could do with it upgradewise.

I'm not happy with mine. I can't run Watch Dogs on max settings. Need a new mobo, CPU, and video card with more vRAM.
