My friend got a new dell and she sent me this.

Got a new Dell the other day. Pentium D processor. I'm having problems with not being able to see pictures on sites. Pages not fully loading with the images. I'm sure it's something that is, or isn't checked, but I'm at a loss as to where. Any idea's?

Thanks,
Marie

I was thinking maybe it come with some kind of add blocking software...what do you think? I dont think it's a java problem or virus because it's brand new out of the box.

What kind of firewall does she have? i know when i got my new firewall last night i had the same problem but there was a setting in there that said Ad blocking and i had to turn that down from high to medium thats probably her problem there.

There is a setting in Internet Explorer to block images on websites. It might be an idea to check there.
I though it might be a browser problem so I had her download FF and it does the same thing...thats why I was thinking it might be some kind of add blocking software blocking 2nd party images maybe some preinstalled software from dell. I emailed her and told her about the firewall thats a pretty good idea I was thinking maybe she has somekind of security suit with add blocking features or something.

I have computer associates for firewall antivirus and anti spam and its basically the same thing as zone alarm thats why i think that its the problem.

Contact Dell and start yelling in the phone... "YOU SOLD ME A PIECE OF SHIT!!! IT DOESN'T DISPLAY IMAGES!! I CAN'T LOOK AT PORN!!!! I'M GOING TO SUE YOU!!!"

Ok, maybe not, but it's fun thinking about it. *evil grin*

It came bundled with McAfee security suit I told her to turn it all off and surf and see if it's something in there...the security suit does have a firewall.

SEE?!?!?!?! JUNK!!! SHIT!!!! GARBAGE!!!! AAAAAAAAGHHH.

rofl. Tell her it is a virus that downloads porn while she is sleeping or something evil like that. lmao. Oh man, I'm so mean.

Roflmao...Actually I dont think McAfee is that bad of an antivirus (DONT KNOW ABOUT FIREWALL) anyway I told her to get rid of everything except the antivirus and firewall.

Mcaffee is a TERRIBLE antivirus. Absolutely terrible.

A lot of my business is cleaning up computers on site. 95% of those are clients that have spyware/adware/malware problems. Some of them have Mcaffee. When I use my tools to clean up the computers, I have discovered as many as 12,000 virii and other malware on computers using the likes of Mcaffee and Norton.

Mcaffee is like a virus sieve. You might as well not have it all. It just gives a false sense of security. THAT is why I hate it so much. Mind you, I have made an awful lot of money at $50/hour cleaning them up, but still...

I just finished telling you why. I don't care what they say. When I run my tools and find up to 12,000 virii and malware that Mcaffee (and Norton) missed, that is JUNK. They can have whatever they want on their list. If it doesn't catch all the virii then it is useless.

And what tools are these? I run Norton myself and I bet you dont find one virus on my pc. Norton has a real high virus detection rate it just sucks at removing them but it will tell me what I have and I can remove it myself. There is no antivirus that is going to catch everything thats why about once a week I will do an online scan with Panda and Kaspersky as well as look at my hijackthis log and everything is always clean and I do alot of web surfing. One thing Norton is bad at though is trojan detection so I also run the paid for version of ewido and use the real time scanner...if your customers are getting that many viruses I would dig alittle deeper into the problem and look for trojan drop loaders and stealth rootkits ect ect...! Maybe someone is bringing in floppy disk's that are infected? Filesharing turned on? If it is and one person infects one PC the whole network gets infected. So tell us what tools you are using. I have become pretty much a maleware removal expert in the last 5 years so impress me with some program I have not used. And what do you think is the best antivirus? Please dont say AVG...LOL! While it is an pretty good AV for free it does not have as high of a detection rate as Norton or Mcaffee or any other top paid for antiviruses.

Let the AVG Fanboyism begin

I have to agree that Mcafee is really not that great. That is because I had it before, you know a trial version or something like that and since I didn't like it, I wanted to uninstall it but it turns out it didn't do a clean uninstall. So I was forced to do other stuff I didn't want to but I had to which I really hated.

Try removing Norton. You want to talk about a serious pain in the ass. Resource hog frickin garbage. AAGH I hate Norton. Useless waste of resources. Just to think, they used to have such a good name.

Anyways, the best antivirus, bar none, is Panda. That is why I sell it.
