Whats the best pc FPS?

Iwould still have to say FEAR as the more realistic/ best gore,

SF2- Is good, but I think FEAR blows it away.

Wow comparing a game relased 2002 with one relased late 2005 = bad.

F.E.A.R. rocks indeed, but so does (did) SOF2. :)

SOF1 was also a great game IMO.

LOL.

Hardly, he didn't ask what game had the best gore for it's time. He asked what game has the best/most realistic gore. And that would be FEAR. The date in thies scenario doesn't matter one bit.

It still all comes down to personal prefrence. So he can play both of them and see which on he likes more.

If you are into multiplayer, I'd definetely go for BF2. I was a SERIOUS Counter-Strike: Source whore (excuse me!), I mean a SERIOUS one - and since I got Battlefield 2 on about June 20th of this year I have not stopped playing! I haven't ONCE played since then!

Choppers, Fast Planes, Bombers, Tanks, Infantry, Sniping, even Reviving people from wounds! (You lie on your back critically wounded and you have to get your shock paddles out! - you can even kill guys with these, although quite hard if they move ;P)

Cheer up if you are into multiplayer games. The following was just published by Steam about a new release coming in September called DEFCON.
About DEFCON

Introversion Software presents its third title, DEFCON, a stunning online multiplayer simulation of global thermonuclear war. You play the role of a military Commander hidden deep within an Underground bunker. Your mission - to successfully exterminate your enemy's civilian population whilst disabling their ability to attack your own. Start by launching your battleships, subs and bombers in order to decimate your opponent's defences. Scramble together your alliances but remember only one can stand victorious.
Prepare your pre-emptive strike before one of your supposed allies gets the same idea. Choose the perfect moment for betrayal, obliterating your opponents with an apocalyptic thermonuclear barrage, but get it wrong and their devastating counter attack will bring you to your knees!
It's Global Thermonuclear War, and nobody wins. But maybe - just maybe - you can lose the least.

Defcon will be available for download via Steam, for $14.95.

We will also be offering Defcon for immediate download from this website for £10, or £12.50 if you would also like to receive a boxed copy in the post.

Release date : End of September, 2006

That would have to be Halo III since a sequel to Halo has been out for some time now. If you are looking for the impossible shooter go with that. Most can't even get around the first corner in the first version. :P

Pretty sure he is talking about halo2. Halo2 will be comming out with vista for the pc

I was under the impression the sequel was already out. But it usually doesn't take long if a game sells good. Meanwhile I got see if I get the beta version going for a look at that. Let's see how that runs a few other games.

Well, in a sense yes. Halo2 is out. But only for xbox. Microsoft is waiting to release Halo2 with Vista. Saying that it will be a dx10 game. Bogus imo.

Ill categorize some good ones:
* = must have
Good Story:
-FEAR* (AWESOME! and some of the best AI)
-Half Life 2* (AWESOME!)
-FarCry (not the best story but fun and interesting to play nonetheless)
-GUN (short game but fine while it lasts)
-Hitman games (Not totally FPS but they are all pretty good, I like 2 and Contracts, havent played Blood Money)

Trigger Happy:
-Painkiller (Prolly has the most awesome boss battles)
-Serious Sam 2 (Must have for people heavy on the trigger finger and has some light-hearted humor mixed in)

Online/Multiplayer:
-Battlefield 2 (Just fun to play)
-Counter Strike (Source) (Havent played but everyone I know says it's great.)

Other Decent Ones:
-Doom 3 (havent played in a while so I dunno bout the storyline)
-Halo (Didn't like it too much but beat it anyways.)

Halo is one that you can get stumped on fast just trying to get into the elevator around the first corner. Metal of Honor has some moments without any real gore. Soldier of Fortune II keeps you far more interested with better details and more to shoot at. Return to Castle Wolfenstein had it's glory day some time back. A pair of classic dos/95 games are Duke3D and Wolf3D along with the original Half Life and Quake. (I just had to add those in. :P )

Oh man, Medal of Honor: Frontline for the PS2 is probably one of my top 3 games for that system! The story line and missions in the game were very engrossing, I thought. In fact, I've played through the whole thing at least 3 times.

Gamerman, how could you forget UT2004 for one of the better trigger happy games??? Nothing like a low gravity, survival mode game :) So many bodies floating everywhere, LOL!

call of duty 1 and 2 blow medal of honor away the action is just insane...altho the expansion for call of duty 1 was insanely hard for some reason...MOH pacific assault was really good too and pretty long i was surprised at that

Yeah i meant halo 2 which is coming out for PC,though the first Halo was fun too for multiplayer.Farcry is pretty good, beautiful graphics.Doom 3 is eh,its a little short, really all just graphics.Quake 4 is supposedly awesome, try that.CoD2 and CS:S are very nice and uh..ya.

Get far cry if you want something really hard... I'm about 3/4 of the way through on realistic right now...
