Vista Special Edition

how much are they asking extra for that?

$100?:D as if Ms products arent already expensive enough.

Dont see why anyone would want to buy a sighned copy of bill gates:D

say someone were to buy one of these and never open it and store it away for like 50 years? think of how much cash it would be worth?

You know its pretty amazing that people are going to be quick to judge something like this, and say how microsoft is already expensive how it is, and who would want a signed copy of windows vista when 1
the reason microsoft is so expensive, operating system wise is becuase its the most used OS in the world, and their giving you a software that you can put into your computer, boot it up, and install it and after that, it alows you to do whatever you want. You may think its not big deal to buy WOW or Norton, or Oblivion for up to 50 bucks but if it wasnt for this 300 dollar software that woudlnt be possible. If it wasnt for windows you couldnt do that so why complain. Not only that but most of you use windows, and if it wasnt for that you woudlnt be online, or using ms word, or for that matter computers at school for anything. so why are we critisizing this genius for his work, because if it wasnt for him, Microsoft wouldnt be around, and we wouldnt have all the great things we have from MS alone like the xbox and halo. Though he didnt make all of this himself I'm sure he thought of alot of that and had the ones who had the proffession do the work because he cant do everything, especialy with a company of that mass. He's a genius of a man, and this chairman that supposably doesnt do anything is responsible for everything great that you see from microsoft in stores to this very day.

[rant]Just because it's everywhere doesn't mean it's a piece of c**p. You completely for get that probably a quarter of the people here are running Linux which is far superior to M$ Windos**t not to mention free. I don't use any programs that came with windows, I run Firefox, iTunes, OpenOffice, Avast, and I themed my entire computer to look like Mac OS X. Just because M$ has a monopoly doesn't mean that they will make a good product, In fact windows XPee is on the 17-18th "Critical Service Update" and still has major problems. Bill Gates probably hasn't done anything accept attend board meetings in 10 years, he's not even working at M$ anymore, and maybe he WAS a genius, but those who not continue his legacy certainly arn't. Name one thing that has been released by M$ in the last 7 years that hasn't had to be recalled or patched, name one![rant/] Man, I can't do that much.

well... if Bill gates actually took the time to sign it by himself.. then it would be worth a load of money tbh.

I mean.. did you know that it would be a waste of money for bill gates to pick up a $100 from the street? Because if he would have worked that time it took him to pick up that money, he would have earned more.

to be honest,. I would be quite happy to have such a Vista version knowing he took the time to sign it,.. I don't know,.. but it just seems a bit special :o

Mechcommander 2.

Really though, how often does Linux get patched? More than never I'd assume. Plenty of what MS makes is good, when you have the world looking for flaws, they are going to find them. They probably even knew a lot of them were there but it was decided that it was better (albiet temporarily) to leave them than to risk breaking something more critical.

Yeah but mechcommander series actually went open source now LOL!

Yeah and MS calls Linux communities communists. Anyways, nothing is fail proof, and every OS needs critical and security updates. The problem with MS is that it is in a competitive market so they rush to get things out, where as open source community they have rough or beta versions that get tested out and out and once all the bugs are fixed they release the final version. Even then though, Linux does in fact need to be patched to fix known bugs.

Just install apt or YUM on a linux box and run it from the command line, I can find updates on a weekly basis for all my installed packages.

yes... the OS buisness is quite competitive.. but also consider.. Whats the most used OS at this moment? I would stay windows 2000 and XP.. now, if you were to develop spyware etc,.. and you want it to spread as fast as possible.. you develop your programs to infiltrate windows 2k and xp ofcourse,. and not Mac OS or so.

I'm convinced enough to say that Window's is the most 'assaulted' OS,.. and so far, i think MS does a pretty good job on keeping it running.
And lets not even talk about the insanely wide spectrum of hardware/brands windows is compartible with,.. i gues that doesnt really help either ;)

besides that.. I dont think you could call something bad if you cant do it better yourself :)

Well, if you pay a high price for something - you expect it to do its job properly, and be of good quality. However, if it is free, like many of the Linux distro's, then calling it bad is another story...
