i have radeon x850xt

i was playing wow and set everything to max with 1280x1024 resolution and still manage to get 58-62fps in most are area i go.

but later on... a warning window pop up from ati driver for the first time says that my card is hot and i should check.... i always leave my comp non-cover so i touch the card.... it was extremely hot!!! like its gonna burn up! i had to use the house fan to blow it then the heat calms down.

so im guessing if gaming in extreme settings... it makes the card hotter.... fact?

lol i touched my 8800gtx and it gave me a nice little burn.

get some more cooling, add some more fans in your case (if possible) or look for a new heatsink cooler for the gfx card...

Yeah the Kingwin I recommended is by far the best cooling unit I have ever used. It was so effective and quite that it made all my friend's Zalaman's look like a POS.

Touching the heatsink and fan, even the stock ones shouldn't give you a burn, your case must have very poor ventillation if it did. I personally perfer to use coolers that are from Zalman, I think they are the best ones by far, I have never heard of the company, Kingwin.

Video card heatsinks will pretty much always burn you if you touch them now, especially if the video card is loaded. Most high end cards idle around 40-45C now.

Kingwin > Zalaman.

I've used both heatsinks before, the Kingwin is VASTLY better.

what makes it strange is just the game world of warcraft..... i have played many games and have never see a warning of hot card from ati before but when i play wow it poped up for the first time and jus 10min ago i downloaded dawn of magic demo and play it.... few min later ati warn again! im guessing some game is a power hog...

video card co0lers... never study about video card co0lers before... but thought it would be like 40,50 bucks... 14.00 is pretty cheap... i might check it out!

Mine new Nvidia GeForce 7950GT run 61 C and it blowing hot air to my hard drive up to 52 C, I can feel very warm in the case. I move a hard drive away from heat blowing from new video card. I install second case fan to blow all the hot air from new Video card out of the front case. I can feel heat like 37C comming out of my front case and hard drive went down to 39 C. I loves this new video card, It way better than my old ATI X1600pro.

Would help to keep the case cover on, so keep the temperature in the case cooler, people usually think taking the case will make it cooler. Also instantly cooling it after being really hot wont really just much good to the card as will be expanded then will retract faster than would natural (only a small fraction).

omg!! i think i kno why its hot suddenly now! i was playing last chaos.... and it got hot again messege pop up! now i figure why its hot..... its the dammm wheather!!!

last 2,3 weeks wasnt that hot in wheather but now its hot like hell! its closer to summer.... the hot wheather effects the card! i take out my shirt everyday now!

interesting.... ill keep your words for refference.

just wondering.. but is the heatsink actually clean? because even with hot weather, the cards still have to work ofcourse

Dust is what eventually kills laptops. My 6800GT card fan died so I took the heatsink off loads of fluff came out. Added a GPU water block to my Zaleman water cooler so it's water cooled now and makes no noise. I oced it to 425Mhz now I have to get rid of that horrible motherboard fan noise and the sata drive.
