which is the best AM2 Proccessor?

overclock = fx 62

no overclock = 6000

either way whether you air or water cooling you can go with either one.

FYI... As I understand it, the 6000 underclocks the memory a little, but the 5600 will run at actual DDR 800 for about $20 less. Might want to check that out?

If your not going to overclock go with the 6000.

Btw: the 6000+ just went to $169 (Retail) with heatsink

The heart break of newegg there. I just ordered one for $215.99 a few weeks back. Well at least I was able to get the new case for less elsewhere! :mad: ggrrrr...!!! The FX-62 is the only fx model in the AM2 series found but is a single core model. The price now seen on the 6000+ X2 wants me to grab a second for the lower price.

I would rather have a X2 5600 then a FX 62. The FX at 2.8 has voltage of 1.35 to 1.40 and uses 125 watts, the X2 5600 at 2.8 has voltage of 1.30 to 1.35 and uses 89 watts. The X2 5600 is a more efficient processor and even though the FX has a unlocked X the X2 5600 would probably clock better.

From what i have seen the 5600 overclocks better than the 6000+, like right now i have mine stable at 3.33 and i know a few people that cant get the 6000+ past about 3.21Ghz stable. I might could overclock mine higher but i have been too lazy to try lol.

Yea the 5600 clocks better, its a 89 watt and lower voltage than the FX or the 6000. You can clock it to 3.0 the same as the 6000 with less voltage than the 6000 stock.
