ive just gone with a low end gfx card on that list until i can afford 8800 Gt or something at a later date.

PLEASE can someone answer these two questions...

1)would even that low end nvidia card beat my current Radeon 9600 pro AGP?:D
Not that it matters but just wondering. (i dont think it would)?

2)can anyone come with a cheaper build than mine with basicly the same specs from ebuyer ?

thanks for your time guys its greatly appreciated ;)

That Asus video card only has a dedicated 64 mb of video memory with up to 256 mb total, but that would be taking up more system memory when required. I would at least go for a dedicated 128-256 mb video card if your any type of gamer. Don't buy a card if it will end up using system memory even if you plan on upgrading later.

Seems like your on a budget, (Don't worry, I am always too... Im not rich). I would go with something your going to be happy with. Sometimes, It is better to just save up and get a beastly computer. If you have like some extra money laying around, go for a higher graphics card, or if your not a gamer, stay with a low end card. But that card feeds of system memory, I would get something dedicated with it memory. Not your system memory.

I'm not exactly sure, (ignorant, sorry), but a USD is about half or one third of your monies, right?

An EVGA GeForce 8500 GT is about $70 USD and you can then use the step-up program if you like. That's what I was going to do but I ended up being happy with just the 8500. It has 256mb dedicated.

However, the fan is very loud so I had to put a $20 Zalman on it.

Step up program only for US ppl. And UK's hardware is 25% more expensive than US

hey thanks all for replying,

about the GFX card,I dont need anything powerfull at all.

all i want it to do for a bit is give me display and i wont be playing games on it until i can get say a 8800GT.

i could just set that crappy gfx card to use 64mb of vram that it has on the card so it wouldnt use anything from main system memory right?:D

i am a gamer and wanted a good system that will last me some time so thats why ive gone with the Q6600 :)

Danny,Is there alot of room inside that case of yours?
because i dont want a case that will be cramped inside because i hear the 8800s are quite big lol and some people have trouble fitting them in their cases.

i was looking at this case aswell :)

1) Probably not...

2) Nope... Impossible...

My point of view:

1) Waste of $$$$ trying to make an Quad with an crappy GFX... I mean, seriously, an 6200??!!? Just stick with onboard...

Im curious as to why you need quad core? Dual core is by in no means utilized, let alone quad core for games. Sure the game maybe dual threaded but most of the time one core is just idling.
I say screw the quad core, get a c2d dual core and bump up the graphics card to a x1950 or something.

guys,

the reason im going Quad core is because it will be more future proof than a dual core.

i want something that will last me for a while without the need of upgrading all the time.

as for the low end card i put on the list...thats only temprary like i said until i can replace it with something like a 8800GT;)

that specific motherboard i put on the list does not have onboard gfx (well i think it doesnt anyway)

im fed up with games not working on my rig because they require more power so i think a q6600 will do the job just nicely:D
