Am I doing a Good Purchase?

Considering the fact that you can get a computer with Quad core CPU, 4 gigs of ram and HD 3870 all for about $1000, you can def do better for $800. I believe the USD and Canadian dollar is roughly equal right now, so you can probably get that processor with that hard drive, a MUCH better video card, probably an 8800gt, for about $800.
 
Also heard that gateways latest versions are only Vista compatible and are very too make XP compatible, is that true?

What do you want to run, Vista or XP?
Would you consider building your own, that helps in saving a bit of money, and getting better hardware?

Haha, and no monitor excluded i'm getting it for Christmas, but should i buy that Gateway and simply updated it for a Quad Core and/or better graphic card later on? or should I search a better deal online or something

I would just build and get some better hardware for $800, so let me just compile something here and I will post it up for you to look at.
 
sweet, but i don,t knot what all the pieces are tho. whys that ram chip better? and i have to buy sound card no? and how do i actually put those pieces together?
