I think I finally got my computer sold (waiting on the guy to email me so I can drop the computer off at his house and pick up the cash ($800)). Therefore, I am going to buy a new one right away. I've been looking at these parts for a while, but I don't know if anything better for the buck has come out in a few weeks, or if anything really good will come out. Here is what I'm thinking:
(I have Zalman 9700LED, Monitor, OS, KB, Mouse)

E8400 CPU - $204.99 - http://www.ncixus.com/products/27784/BX80570E8400/Intel/
GIGABYTE P35-DS3R Mobo - $126.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128050
Sapphire HD 3870 - $249.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814102713
G.SKILL 4GB DDR2 800 RAM - $94.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231122
Corsair HX 520W PSU - $124.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817139001
Antec 900 - $119.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811129021
WD 320GB 7,200 HD - $79.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822136074
Samsung 20X DVD+R - $29.99 - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827151153

Total Before MIR: $1031.92

Usage: Gaming, Overclocking, Computing.

I would go with OCZ if it had modular cabling. I have the HX 520 W now and I barely use any of the cables, and as I'm planning on the Antec 900, which is short on space as it is, I'm going to need modular.

I wish I had used a modular PSU when I built my stepsons system with that Antec 900. It really makes sense when using that case.

Do all the other parts sound up to date? (in the sense that there aren't any better parts for that price out).

It really does help, I cant imagine using the case without a modular supply, its not too wiring friendly even with one.

Also, Ive been hearing good things about the x38s as the newer motherboards for non-sli and shi, and since your grfx card is PCIE x2.0 you might as well get it if you have the money to spare.

So you're going the ATI way? Good for you, the HD3870 is a great card! :)

I say you go with the modular PSU. And yes everything sounds up-to-date and great parts IMO. ;)

I do not have the money to spare.

Yeah, the HD 3870 only sounded like it got a little worse FPS than the 8800GT, and it has better image quality, and is $50 cheaper.

Damnit Maroon... I was hoping no one would find a better deal than the HD 3870... I guess I got more deciding to do...
But thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Okay, so the guy emailed me saying he has the cash and to call him. I'll probably drop the computer off this week. Should I keep anything in mind when reinstalling the OS and wiping the HD?

Just so you know (if you didn't already), the only difference between the DS3R and the DS3L is the ability to configure RAID. In other words, if you do not plan to run a RAID, get the DS3L.

Wow, okay, thanks mep.
Also, I dunno which brand of the HD 3870 I want to get, but Sapphire is always sold out. Is GECUBE a good brand?

Dont buy sapphire! Diamond is better! Diamonds memory clock is 2400MHz and Sapphires memory clock is 2250MHz !
Just wait for Diamond and be sure to check their website everyday!

Damn, was hoping to keep all buys to newegg.com, but it sort of looks like that'll be hard to avoid. Hows the wireless card look?
